    "Tutto ebbe inizio in una notte di mezza estate a Vilnius (che d'ora in avanti chiamerò Gotham City) quando un mio amico, Michele, un giorno mi disse che la sera prima aveva incontrato una ragazza russa per strada alle 2 del mattino che piangeva e che chiedeva aiuto. Michele era con un altro amico e le si avvicinarono e le chiesero se avesse bisogno di una mano e che cosa fosse successo. Lei rispose dicendo che era russa di San Pietroburgo, in vacanza e che era la prima volta in lituania e che il ragazzo dal quale era ospite si era ubriacato, l'aveva picchiata ed era tornato nel suo paese distante qualche decina di km con tutti i suoi bagagli, documenti, passaporto etc. Essendo russa ed avendo un visto di soggiorno e avendo detto che sarebbe dovuta partire per la Russia con un pulmann dopo pochi giorni, aveva bisogno di trovare la stazione degli autobus per andare nel paese di questo tipo e cercare la casa dove abitava coi suoi genitori. I miei amici allora l' accompagnarono fino alla stazione degli autobus e lì si scambiarono i numeri di telefono, promettendo di rivedersi magari in Russia o di ospitarsi a vicenda in Italia o in Russia a San Pietroburgo.

    Nel frattempo a Gotham City Michele se ne stava tranquillo e dopo qualche giorno ricevette una telefonata da Melena, la ragazza russa conosciuta qualche notte fa. Lei gli chiese se avesse intenzione di incontrarla la sera in un locale del centro. Michele accettò e si videro la sera stessa. Verso le 2 del mattino lei gli disse di voler andare via e chiese gentilmente di chiamarle un taxi...Lui invece le propose di andare a casa sua e chiamarlo da là, dal momento che i taxi al momento erano irraggiungibili.

    A Gotham City era una serata stranamente afosa, la gente faceva baldoria per le vie del centro e nei locali e in quel preciso momento la richiesta dei taxi era assai elevata.

    Jelena accettò l'invito di Michele e si diressero assieme verso casa. Arrivati a casa Michele, da bravo padrone di casa, le offrì un bicchiere di Limoncello...noi non sapremo mai, o forse sì, le intenzioni del buon Michele, ma di fatto i due giovincelli iniziarono a bere a dismisura. Dopo un pò la ragazza chiese a Michele di fare una telefonata dal suo telefono di casa. Michele acconsentì e da quel momento null’altro si seppe.
    Verso le 6 del mattino ricevetti una telefonata da Michele, apparentemente in stato confusionale, il quale in una lingua lontana-parente di ciò che comunemente si fa denominare "lingua di Dante", mi urlò: "la russa, mi son spariti 300 euro, 2 macchine digitali, 2 telefonini, chiama la compagnia di taxi"...
    Devo dire che la difficoltà di comprensione di un essere umano di media intelligenza, dopo essere stato svegliato alle 6 del mattino e dopo aver passato una serata in compagnia di una buona bottiglia di vodka, aumentano vertiginosamente. Nonostante ciò dopo 10 minuti riuscii a rincollare il puzzle di parole di Michele e capii che sta brava ragazza lo aveva giustamente drogato o addormentato con qualche droga o sonnifero e aveva approfittato della situazione per afferrare i soldi nel portafoglio e qualche oggetto facilmente rivendibile al primo sfigato per strada.

    Ed ecco qua che entrò in azione il detective, ribattezzato oramai da tutti "il tenente Colombo"...cioè il sottoscritto!
    Innanzitutto si trattava di analizzare gli elementi a disposizione. Per prima cosa Jelena aveva inopportunamente e ingenuamente chiesto di utilizzare il telefono. Fortuna nostra che il telefono memorizzava gli ultimi numeri composti. Avevamo poi altri dettagli. La descrizione di Michele e sapevamo che era russa e che aveva composto dal telefonino di Michele un numero di una compagnia di taxi. La prima cosa che facemmo fu quella di chiamare il numero di telefono mobile chiamato dal telefono fisso di casa di Michele. Dall'altra parte della cornetta rispose una donna che più o meno avrà avuto 30 35 anni, che però afferma di non parlare affatto l'inglese. Ergo facemmo richiamare una nostra amica lituana la quale riferì che eravamo in possesso del loro numero e spiegò loro la situazione generale. La presunta pensionata, abilmente suggerita da un losco individuo, rispose di essere due poveri pensionati e che non erano al corrente di alcunchè. L'indagine si stava complicando! In lituania vige una legge molto poco facilitante per quanto riguarda la vendita di schede ricaricabili dei telefoni cellulari. Anche un poppante potrebbe comprare una scheda in qualsiasi chiosco, senza alcuna difficoltà e senza nessuna necessità di dover registrarla a suo nome. Quindi non saremmo mai risaliti ai dati dei due insospettabili "pensionati"!
    La compagnia di taxi nel frattempo ci aveva fornito delle indicazioni sulla possibile destinazione della ragazza, ma ancora non bastava a granchè, perchè ci serviva un indirizzo e un numero...quello della casa dove fare irruzione!
    L'ambasciata non era possibile chiamarla vista l'inefficienza e la lentezza nel mettere in atto misure adeguate per bloccare eventuali sospetti alla frontiera!
    Eravamo in un vicolo cieco e ci serviva un colpo di fortuna.

    Nel frattempo la mattina successiva, dopo aver fatto denuncia alla polizia del furto, decidemmo di partire per il mare. Michele era ancora in evidente stato confusionale e dopo varie illazioni su eventuali droghe fattegli ingerire la notte precedente dalla ragazza e dopo essere arrivato alla conclusione di essere stato violentato più volte (di questo parleremo nel prossimo racconto di fantascienza), dopo 24 ore riuscì a tornare in uno stato di apparente normalità. Bisogna ammettere che la droga assunta aveva provocato in lui degli strani effetti collaterali, aumentando il suo potenziale comico e la sua iper-reattività. Ad ogni modo, così come il trascorrere del tempo determinò lo svanimento dei "super-poteri", così allo stesso tempo aiutò a dimenticare questa disavventura. E tutto tornò alla normalità. Ma l'amarezza per questa sconfitta cresceva in me e non mi davo pace per non aver potuto risolvere il caso. Nella mia mente frullavano mille pensieri e sensi di sconfitta. La Russia non poteva vincere l'astuzia, l'intuizione e l'ingegno italico. Non poteva finire così.

    Una notte, una notte apparentemente tranquilla e silenziosa capitò un fatto strano. Dopo aver accompagnato due amici a casa, visto che il giorno dopo avevano programmato la loro partenza per la capitale della Lettonia, decisi di non concludere quella tranquilla serata su un letto, ma decisi di dirigermi verso uno dei più affollati locali di una via del centro.
    Gotham City in quei frangenti infondeva in me sicurezza e mai e poi mai avrei potuto pensare che mi avrebbe offerto su un piatto d'argento l'occasione di raggiungere la fama e la gloria per i giorni avvenire. Il mio nome sarebbe stato pronunciato di bar in bar, di tavolo in tavolo, di vodka in vodka. Non avrei mai pensato di poter diventare lo spauracchio della comunità russa in Lituania.

    Ore 3: Mi diressi verso il Prospekto pub nel quale ad attendermi c'era uno sparuto gruppo di italiani tra i quali il buon Michele. Dopo neanche 20 metri mi accorsi di una presenza femminile che mi veniva incontro. La ragazza era scossa, agitata e nervosa e accennava dei segni di evidente piagnisteo. Le sue prima parole furono: “parli russo o inglese?”
    Io risposi un pò sorpreso: “per il russo ci stiamo attrezzando per l'inglese ci siamo già attrezzati!”
    Lei con voce tremante mi disse: “ti prego aiutami ho bisogno del tuo aiuto!”
    E io: “ok non ti preoccupare dimmi che ti è successo e vediamo se ti posso aiutare.”
    Lei: “ok ti racconto tutto...mi chiamo Alexandra e vengo da Mosca. Sono qua per la prima volta in Lituania e sono ospite a casa di un ragazzo in un paese distante 50 km da Vilnius. Lui è scappato prima ubriaco in macchina e mi ha lasciato qua da sola dopo avermi anche picchiata. Ora sono nei guai perchè domani mattina alle 6:30 ho l'autobus per Mosca e domani mi scade anche il permesso di soggiorno. Ho bisogno di recuperare quel passaporto e per fare ciò devo raggiungere la cifra di 60 litas (circa 18 euro) perchè ciò è quello che mi hanno chiesto i taxisti per accompagnarmi. E uno mi anche chiesto di vendere il mio corpo. Io sto chiedendo un pò di soldi a tutta la gente che incontro per cercare di raggiungere la somma di cui necessito.”
    A tratti interrompeva il discorso accennando crisi di nervi manifestate da avvisaglie di lacrime. In quel momento non pensavo "al colpo di fortuna" ma qualche sospetto me iniziava a sorgere in me sollecitato dal fatto che a una mia precisa domanda "ma perchè non vai all'ambasciata russa", lei rispose "ci sono già stata ma tu sai, i russi sono pigri e non mi vogliono aiutare". I miei sospetti incrementarono quando mi disse che non voleva ricevere nessun passaggio in macchina dal sottoscritto per raggiungere la destinazione.
    Cosa ho pensato in quel momento è stato questo: io sono stato in Russia e in parte conosco la mentalità di questa gente. In Russia è in uso una pratica che da noi sarebbe considerata da folli scellerati. La gente e soprattutto le ragazze fermano le auto in corsa per trattare il prezzo per spostarsi da una parte all'altra della città. Ogni volta è un rischio e la povera Alexandra non avrebbe avuto nessun motivo di rifiutare un eventuale passaggio a bordo della mia macchina. E poi vista la precaria situazione non si poteva permettere di rifiutare. In ogni caso il problema non sorgeva perchè non ero dotato di mezzo di trasporto e il suo essere "scared" non sarebbe sfociato in una fobia concreta di essere violentata.
    Meditai sul da farsi e dopo averle spiegato che non l'avrei potuta aiutare con contanti vista l'indisponibilità immediata ( sì, ma di euro), la convinsi a seguirmi nel locale dove, dopo aver parlato con i miei amici, avrei collezionato qualche decina di litas per darle una mano. Probabilmente le mie espressioni facciali tranquillizzanti e il mio tono di voce pacato fu più convincente del suo tono singhiozzante. Era una lotta per l’Oscar come miglior attori protagonisti. Stesso film: Caccia al ladro!
    Alexandra aveva trovato un osso duro difficile da digerire. Me!
    Come detto non potevo essere sicuro che fosse lei, anche perchè logica voleva che lei non si facesse viva per parecchio tempo viste le circostanze. Furto in casa di un italiano residente in Lituania, malloppo cospicuo, refurtiva facile da piazzare sul mercato nero e centralità della zona di aggiramento. Una persona più furba non avrebbe mai circolato, seppur dopo un mese, in una zona a rischio riconoscimento per lei. Ma forse proprio in questo stava la sua furbizia. Depistare agendo nel modo più naturale. Confondersi nella normalità della gente comune, mimetizzarsi negli ambienti mondani. Brava, non c’è che dire, non male come tattica, ma come detto la volpe era ormai circondata e non le sarebbe stato facile divincolarsi per questa volta.
    Arrivati davanti all'ingresso del Prospekto pub le rivolsi cortesemente la parola chiedendole di accompagnarmi al piano superiore, ma lei furbamente respinse l’attacco e mi disse di non volermi seguire per via del suo stato di paura avanzata e io non insistetti più di tanto perché, come quando si va a pesca, una volta che un grosso pesce abbocca bisogna avere la pazienza di affaticare l'avversario con attacchi laterali e continui.
    Feci quindi finta di niente e dopo averle detto di aspettare per 5 10 minuti davanti all'ingresso del locale, lei mi apostrofò una frase che mi fece capire che il giorno della vendetta era giunto "non scendere con nessuno perché ho paura".
    Era lei, non potevo fallire anche questa volta. Era Michele a chiedermelo, la comunità italiana a Vilnius, la mia coscienza. La russa andava incastrata...per sempre!
    Con passo felpato salii a cercare Michele che nel frattempo estrinsecava le sue doti da comico dello Zelig con una poveretta di turno, costretta a subire le sue "scoppiettanti" esibizioni da cabaret di serie b. Ma non era tempo di cabaret. Era tempo di dimenticarsi delle battute pluri-usate per fare colpo sulla baltica di turno. Una cliente speciale del Prospekto aspettava di sotto e non la si poteva far attendere a lungo. Non aspettava altro che sentirsi raccontare le ultime battute di Michele. Queste volta non comiche.
    Richiamato Michele dalle sue mondanità, gli feci un cenno con un dito per avvicinarlo a me e per spiegargli la situazione. All'inizio sembrò apparentemente infastidito della mia intrusione nel suo spettacolo improvvisato, ma vista la mia evidente insistenza, si avvicinò repentinamente e mi chiese spiegazioni.
    Io gli riepilogai velocemente la situazione e gli suggerii di appropinquarsi alla finestra per scorgere se fosse effettivamente la ragazza tanto ricercata. Appena si affacciò, subito non trattenne in gola un urlo di liberazione che presagiva la cattura finale e la chiusura del caso. Io smorzai i toni entusiastici perchè non si poteva rischiare di perdere un'occasione così ghiotta per colpa di un facile entusiasmo. La preda era là, ma come già detto era astuta come una volpe. Bisognava agire di conseguenza e con intelligentia. Bisognava fare in modo che Alexandra o Jelena o chicchesia per lei non potesse scomparire nelle tenebre come un spettro. Decidemmo allora di chiamare Piero, il gestore del locale Prospekto per convocare una persona addetta alla sicurezza. L'obiettivo era semplice: spedire il body-guard dietro la ragazza per evitare che mettesse in atto un piano di fuga.
    Dopo di che la seconda operazione consisteva nel mandare Michele per l'identificazione. E così fu fatto. Fu allora che la volpe tentò l'ultimo disperato piano di fuga. In russo cercò di convincere le persone attorno a lei che Michele fosse un malintenzionato, sperando che la gente potesse aiutarla a fuggire, ma i suoi calcoli non prevedevano l'incognita più difficile da risolvere. La mia mente. E così nessuno diede seguito a quegli inutili gemiti. Era dura ammettere la sconfitta, ma tale era la realtà.
    Mentre Michele scese giù giù per le scale, un senso di soddisfazione interiore mi pervase. I sensi di colpa svanirono nel nulla e il buio della sconfitta lasciò il passo al gusto della vittoria.
    La ragazza fu ammanettata e la polizia arrivò giusto in tempo per portarla in centrale e identificarla. Era ricercata in tutta la Lituania per svariate truffe e per un grosso crimine che la polizia non volle spiegare per evidenti motivi di privacy. Verso le 4 confessò il furto e la polizia decise di tenerla in carcere per qualche giorno.
    L'unica amarezza è stata quella di non poter urlare una frase scendendo dalle scale del locale come "hey voi, arrestate quella donna" o come "hey tu, hai finito di gozzovigliare, i tuoi giorni in città sono terminati". Ma forse è meglio così. I film sono una cosa, la realtà è un'altra. Più dura!

  • Beh, sia il sottoscritto Vilnius Man che tutti noi amici, ci dissociamo completamete da quanto scritto da Egle (che forse è troppo arrabiata per le numerose delusioni in amore).
    Michele è una persona fantastica e ci dispiace tanto che a causa di motivi lavorativi ci siamo persi di vista. Un in bocca al lupo a lui e a tutti quelli che dei bei tempi di Vilnius.
